Private ADHD assessment in Waterford
If you live in Waterford or elsewhere in the South East, we can assess you for ADHD over a video call. You book us directly and your written report arrives within 6 weeks of your first appointment.
Where the public adult ADHD service stands in the South East
The HSE has been setting up a public adult ADHD team for the South East. In April 2025, in a reply to a parliamentary question, it said Budget 2025 had funded a service covering Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny, Carlow and South Tipperary. The same reply said progress had been slow.
In May 2025 WLR FM reported that the team would be based at John's Hill Primary Care Centre in Waterford. We have not found a published waiting time for it, so ask your GP whether it is taking referrals and how long the wait is.
Seen from home across the South East
Your assessment is an online video call, so you are seen from home in Waterford city, Dungarvan, Tramore or anywhere in Wexford, Kilkenny, Carlow or South Tipperary. There is no trip to Dublin and no day lost to travel.
A face-to-face appointment in Dublin can be arranged. You do not need one to be assessed. A private space and a device with a camera are enough for the whole process.
One price list for the South East
The fees are €595 for an adult ADHD assessment, €750 for autism and €1,000 when both are assessed together.
You start with a free pre-assessment evaluation, so you only pay for a full assessment once it looks like the right step. The written report is included in that price.
What happens, step by step
Questionnaires come first. You fill them in online. A person who has known you for years, such as a parent, partner or old friend, completes one about you as well.
The interview follows. Our clinicians use DIVA-5 for adult ADHD and the ADI-R when autism is being assessed. A specialist team then reviews your case together before anything is written up.
Every assessment ends with a written report setting out the outcome and what to do next, even when the answer is not ADHD.
Your report and what it gives you
The report reaches you within 6 weeks of your first appointment. We write it in line with the HSE ADHD in Adults Model of Care, so your GP and other services can use it. Shared care is a decision for your GP.
People use it for workplace accommodations, support at college, onward HSE referral and, if they want it, a route to medication. A psychiatrist approves every report and a medication pathway is open after diagnosis.
Support while you decide
ADHD Ireland, the national charity, runs free online support groups for adults, from general adult groups to groups for women, men and creatives. Because they are online, you can join from Waterford.
Our free screeners are another place to start. They take a few minutes and cannot diagnose, though they show whether booking a full assessment makes sense.
