Private ADHD assessment in Derry~Londonderry

Adults in Derry~Londonderry can be assessed for ADHD by us over video, with a report written to NICE guidance and no need for a GP referral.

What the Western Trust offers adults with ADHD

Derry~Londonderry is served by the Western Health and Social Care Trust, your local NHS trust. In July 2026 the Trust said, in reply to a Freedom of Information request, that there is no commissioned ADHD service for adults in its area, so there is no waiting list for an adult ADHD assessment.

The Trust's adult route is for people who were diagnosed by its own children's services and are already taking medication when they move into adult care. The Department of Health's ADHD Needs Assessment, published in February 2026, put it this way: new patients are not accepted into the Western Trust. Ask your GP what they can do for you now.

Private assessment fees in Derry~Londonderry

Assessments for Northern Ireland are priced in pounds sterling. Adult ADHD costs £500, autism costs £750 and the combined AuDHD assessment costs £1,000.

You start with a free pre-assessment evaluation. Your written diagnostic report is included in the fee.

Assessed from home in Derry~Londonderry

The whole assessment runs over video. There is no drive to Belfast and no trip across the border to Dublin.

A face-to-face appointment in Dublin can be arranged. We have no premises in Derry~Londonderry and you will not need one, because the questionnaires, the interview and the report are all done remotely.

Strabane, Limavady and the rest of the Western Trust area are covered in the same way. A private room and a device with a camera and a steady connection are all you need.

Using your report in Northern Ireland and over the border

Your report arrives within 6 weeks of your first appointment. It is completed by registered clinicians and written to NICE guidance, so your GP and other services can use it. Agreeing to shared care is for your GP to decide.

It also works as written evidence of a diagnosis: for reasonable adjustments at work, for support in school, college or university and for any application that asks for proof.

If you live in Derry~Londonderry and work or study in Donegal, the same report can be used in Ireland.

Who assesses you and what happens with medication

Our doctors are GMC-registered. Every report is approved by a psychiatrist. If you want to think about medication after a diagnosis, there is a pathway for that.

Most of our team are ADHD, autistic or both, so the people asking the questions know the experience from the inside. The process is structured and clinical, never an interrogation.

Common questions

Can I get an adult ADHD assessment on the NHS in Derry~Londonderry?
Not at the moment. The Western Health and Social Care Trust said in July 2026 that there is no commissioned ADHD service for adults in its area, so there is no adult waiting list to join. Its adult route is for people diagnosed by the Trust's children's services who are already taking medication. Ask your GP what they can do for you now.
Do I need a GP referral for an ADHD assessment in Derry~Londonderry?
No, you can book us directly. As a private clinic we do not need a referral from your GP.
Will my GP in Derry~Londonderry agree to shared care after a private diagnosis?
Your GP decides that. Shared care means your GP and a specialist agree who handles which part of your ongoing treatment. The Department of Health's ADHD Needs Assessment, published in February 2026, noted reports that people diagnosed privately in Northern Ireland often cannot get ADHD medication from their GP under shared care. Ask your practice what its position is before you book.
How much is an ADHD assessment in Derry~Londonderry?
Adult ADHD is £500. AuDHD, with both assessed together, is £1,000 and an autism assessment on its own is £750. The free pre-assessment evaluation comes first.
Can I use my report across the border in Donegal?
Yes, it travels. You can use the same report in Ireland. GPs and other services on either side of the border can use it, though shared care is always the GP's decision.
Do I have to travel to Belfast or Dublin for my assessment?
No, the assessment happens over video from your own home. A face-to-face appointment in Dublin can be arranged. Nobody has to travel to be assessed.
