How much is a private ADHD assessment in Ireland?

What the €595 includes

Everything you need to reach a diagnostic outcome and then use it. Nothing is added later.

Your assessment begins with a free pre-assessment evaluation, so you find out whether a full assessment is the right step before you pay for one. If it is not, you have not spent anything.

The assessment itself is a structured clinical interview with a registered clinician, using DIVA-5 for ADHD and ADI-R where autism is also being assessed. A specialist team of two to three practitioners reviews your case, which can include an ADHD clinician, a clinical psychologist and a consultant psychiatrist.

You then receive a written diagnostic report of 30 pages or more, compliant with NICE guidelines and accepted by the HSE in Ireland and the NHS in the UK. It reaches you within 6 weeks of your first appointment. The outcome carries psychiatrist approval from our consultant psychiatrist Dr Jahan Zeb Khan, Irish Medical Council registration number 409788, which is what makes the report usable for onward referral and for a medication discussion.

Assessments are online, so there is no travel and no clinic to attend. No GP referral is required, so there is no referral appointment to pay for first.

What private assessments cost across the market

More than €595, in almost every case we looked at. In July 2026 we read the published fee pages of private ADHD and autism providers across Ireland and the UK and recorded what they advertise.

In Ireland, published prices we reviewed in July 2026 for an adult ADHD assessment ranged from €550 to €2,050, with most sitting between €900 and €1,500. Published adult autism prices in euro ran from €975 to €2,000. Only four Irish providers published a combined ADHD and autism price, and those ran from €2,000 to €2,648.

The UK spread was similar. Published adult ADHD prices we reviewed ranged from £289 to £2,050, with the median close to £900 and a cluster of providers between £895 and £995. Discrete adult autism prices ran from £900 to £2,400. Combined assessments ran from £1,400 to £3,250.

Prices change, so treat those figures as a snapshot of July 2026 rather than a live quote from anyone. What matters is the range, not any one provider.

Why ours costs less

Three reasons, and none of them is a shorter assessment.

The first is deliberate. ADHD Services was set up by people with ADHD who went through the assessment process themselves, and we price on the view that a diagnosis should be a human right rather than a privilege. €595 is a mission price, not an introductory rate that rises later.

The second is delivery. Assessments run online with a clinical team that is not carrying the cost of consulting rooms in several cities. That saving is reflected in the price.

The third is technology. EchoMind, our own assessment platform, handles the questionnaires, the scheduling and the report drafting that would otherwise consume clinician hours. Our clinicians spend their time on the clinical work and on your report rather than on administration.

What the lower price does not buy you is a lighter assessment. We assess against the same NICE criteria as a provider charging three times as much, using DIVA-5 and ADI-R. Our clinicians are registered with CORU, the Psychological Society of Ireland, the Irish Medical Council or the HCPC, and every outcome carries psychiatrist approval. If €595 could only be reached by dropping one of those, we would charge more.

Check whether the price you are quoted is the whole price

Some published prices cover one stage of an assessment rather than the whole thing. Across the prices we reviewed, several providers advertised a low initial or screening fee with the diagnostic assessment priced separately afterwards, and others published a range instead of a figure, so the amount you pay is settled after you have committed.

The other cost to ask about is the report. A verbal outcome is not the same as a written diagnostic report, and the report is what the HSE, an employer or a school will ask to see. Some providers charge separately for the written report, for letters, for a GP letter or for the follow-up appointment that completes the assessment. If medication is something you want to discuss, ask directly whether the report you are paying for supports that conversation, and what titration and prescriptions cost afterwards.

Our €595 covers the pre-assessment evaluation, the assessment, the report, the management plan and the follow-up. If a cost is not on our pricing page, we do not charge it.

How to check any provider, including us

Ask three questions and you can compare any two clinics properly.

First, registration. Ask which body each clinician is registered with and check the number on the public register. In Ireland that is CORU, the Psychological Society of Ireland or the Irish Medical Council. In Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK it is the HCPC. A named clinician with a registration number you can verify is the baseline, not a bonus.

Second, the standard. The assessment should follow NICE guidelines and map to DSM-5-TR or ICD-11 using recognised instruments. Ask which instruments. For adult ADHD you want to hear about a structured clinical interview such as DIVA-5, not a questionnaire on its own. A screening questionnaire is never a diagnosis, whoever is selling it.

Third, the report. Ask whether it is written, roughly how long it runs, when it arrives, whether the HSE or NHS accepts it and whether a psychiatrist approves the outcome. Ask what you receive if the answer turns out to be that you do not have ADHD, because a thorough assessment gives you a written outcome either way.

How can it cost less than the assessments I have seen advertised?

Mission pricing, online delivery and our own technology. We were set up by people with ADHD and we price for access rather than for margin. Our clinicians work online rather than out of rooms in several cities, and the EchoMind platform handles administration that would otherwise take clinician time. The assessment standard is unchanged: the same NICE criteria, DIVA-5 and ADI-R, registered clinicians and psychiatrist approval.

Does the HSE accept a report that cost €595?

Yes. Acceptance rests on the standard of the assessment and the registration of the clinicians, not on the fee. Our reports are completed by fully qualified clinicians, comply with NICE guidelines and are valid for submission to the HSE in Ireland and the NHS in Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK. They can be used for public healthcare pathways, workplace or educational accommodations and onward referrals.

Do I need a GP referral, and does that add to the cost?

No GP referral is required. We are a private clinic, so you can book directly and there is no referral appointment to pay for first. That also removes a wait from the front of the process.

What does an autism or a combined assessment cost?

An adult autism assessment is €750. A combined ADHD and autism assessment, sometimes called AuDHD, is €1,000, which is less than paying for the two separately and means you tell your story once rather than twice. Both include the written NICE-compliant report and your free EchoMind AI profile.
